Teal Michaelis BS, RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer)- Teal is the AWHC ultrasonographer. She graduated from Seattle University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. She performed her clinical internship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, both teaching affiliates of Harvard Medical School. While in Boston, Teal studied under Harvard physicians and professors who introduced and developed many of the ultrasound techniques and protocols used today. Teal is trained in all aspects of ultrasound but for the past seven years has focused primarily in obstetrics and gynecology, high risk obstetrics and first trimester screening (NTQR). Teal is one of the few licensed NTQR providers in the valley who performs these detailed ultrasounds designed to detect signs of Down’s syndrome and other fetal abnormalities in the first trimester of pregnancy. She also performs 3D and 4D ultrasounds in our La Quinta and Palm Springs offices and has captured some amazing “fetal photos” for our expecting parents and families. When Teal is not working here in the valley, she spends her time at her home in San Diego and at the beach with her two dogs Hula and Keyster. Teal is also an avid golfer and former professional skier and snowboarder.
