Teal Michaelis, RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) is one of our ultrasonographers. She graduated from Seattle University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. She performed her clinical internship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, both are teaching affiliates of Harvard Medical School. While in Boston, Teal studied under Harvard physicians and professors who introduced and developed many of the ultrasound techniques and protocols used today. Teal is trained in all aspects of ultrasound but focuses primarily on obstetrics and gynecology, high-risk obstetrics, and first trimester screening (NTQR). Teal is one of the few licensed NTQR providers in the valley who performs these detailed ultrasounds designed to detect signs of Down’s syndrome and other fetal abnormalities in the first trimester of pregnancy. She also performs 3D and 4D ultrasounds in our La Quinta and Palm Springs offices, and has captured amazing “fetal photos” for our expecting parents and families. When Teal is not working here in the valley, she spends her time at her home in San Diego and at the beach with her two dogs, Hula and Keyster. Teal is also an avid golfer and former professional skier and snowboarder.
Alison Williams, RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer), joined Advanced Women’s Healthcare in 2011. She has over 20 years of experience as an Ultrasongrapher in both the hospital and clinic settings, including working with Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists. Her interest in the field of medicine began early when she participated in a work study program at the local hospital while in high school. She attended Mira Costa Community College before completing a continuing education series in Diagnostic Ultrasound at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital in Los Angles in 1992. This program was chaired by Phillip W. Ralls, M.D., Radiologist; one of the pioneering practitioners and educators of the time in the emerging field of Ultrasound. Alison has been registered in the Specialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers since 1994. In 2008, she became a Registered Vascular Technologist, and worked for 5 years as the Director of a local vascular lab. Alison also holds a license in the specialty of Abdominal Ultrasound. She is certified by the State of California Nuchal Translucency Quality Review Board since 2012, allowing her to perform first trimester genetic screening exams. Alison is a second generation native Californian and has two children. She enjoys hiking in the desert, as well as exploring many other fun places that this great state has to offer.
